God Does Not Change

Let us be thankful and take courage because God remains the same. God through Malachi spoke these words: Mal. 3:6 “For I am the LORD, I do not change.”

Psalm 90:2 2 Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.”

Heb. 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”

James 16-17 “ Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.”

The person of God is unchanging, let us be encouraged. Let us be thankful and be courageous as we face this year because we have an unchanging God. He is the Father of lights, with whom there is variation or changeableness or shadow of turning. James referred to God as the Father of lights. In other words, He is the Creator of heavenly bodies.

God is everlasting, He is the source of light, not only the heavenly bodies, but also the source of moral and spiritual lights.

The phrase “shadow of turning” suggests that this is an astronomical term - which means there are changes and variations in the heavenly bodies such as the length of our day and night, there are changes in our illuminations such as the sun, moon and the stars. All creation changes. There are changes all around us. But God does not change.

No variation can be found in God, like that which can be seen in the heavenly bodies. What a great God we have. He is eternal and never changes. We can rely upon Him. Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. All by grace and by grace alone
