for His Glory
Our world today is filled with uncertainty and the minds of both believers and unbelievers is also filled with COVID-19 because it’s on the front page of every newspaper and on the TV and internet all the time in most countries of our world. During this time of confusion and unpredictable situation, I thought it would be good to turn to the Word of God and see His glory and fill our minds with His glory in times like these.
While the experts are looking for a solution to our current health problem, the Christian’s mind should be dominated by a sense of greatness, and majesty and holiness of God, revealed to us in the Gospel of Christ who died and rose again, and presently reigning with absolute authority to every tribe and nation and to every ‘natural disaster’ and every sickness and disease that has invaded our planet. The Bible is full of the glory, the beauty and the radiance of God. The glory of God is who He is and what He does is absolute perfection. In every way He displays His glory.
He has chosen Israel for His glory Jer.13:11;
He saved the Jews from Egypt for His glory Psa.106:8;
He rescued His people from exile for His glory Isa.48:9-11
He predestined us for His glory Eph.1:5-6
He created people for His glory Isa. 43:7
He asks us that whatever we eat or drink, to do it for His glory 1Cor. 10:31
He sent Christ so that Gentiles would praise God for His glory Rom.15:9
He will send Jesus again so that all believers will marvel at His glory 2 Thess. 1:9-10
God said He will never give His glory to another. Isaiah 48:11; compare to 42:8
There are things we do not fully understand in this world, but God does. The Bible says, “Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!” Romans 11:33.His ways are not our ways. But let us know His ways and walk in it. His ways are clearly written in His Book, the Bible.
We live in a sin-sick world. But I also believe there are beautiful things in this world, they may be great or small. Psalm 19 says that God declares His glory in His creation, the beauty of a flower, landscape, rivers and people etc. The beauty of reaching fulfilled old age is a big bonus, for the normal span of life is only three scores and ten.
My beloved mother-in-law was 99 years old yesterday. We were unable to see her because we are under quarantine here in Darwin after our trip to the Philippines. I call it spiritual solitude.
The Lord bless her heart! So don’t lose heart. God sent His Son, the first time to rescue us. Jesus is our Saviour, Healer, Sanctifier and coming King. Our hope is in His hands. You see, it’s all by grace and by grace alone. Let us fill our beings with His glory! To God be the glory, great things He has done!
