You are wonderfully created
We are His masterpiece, the Psalmist David sings”.
O LORD, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens! 2 Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger. 3 When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, 4 What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? 5 For You have made him a little lower than the angels,[b] And You have crowned him with glory and honor. 6 You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet, 7 All sheep and oxen— Even the beasts of the field, 8 The birds of the air, And the fish of the sea That pass through the paths of the seas. (Psalm 8, NKJV)
Try to read again verses 4 to 8. You are wonderfully created. Worship Him as your great Creator and Artist. O come, let us adore Him! Can you see that God thought of you and how precious you are? This Christmas season a lot of people will be extremely happy, especially those surrounded by their families. Undoubtedly, some will be lonely. I remember when I was in Manila in 1968, Christmas eve - I was missing my families in Mindanao- I was walking in Luneta (Rizal Park) ‘alone’ just to pass through the night of loneliness, in spite of the unceasing fireworks; but by God’s grace I survived. There were many occasions like this, but as I flash back, it is as though I can see God’s ‘twinkly eye’ of approval and I cannot help but smile and adore Him. Over the years I can sense His hands leading me to where I am now, a joyful man in the twilight of my years, with my wonderful wife, families and grandchildren. I have another grandchild two weeks ago named Ezekiel Thomas, a real great blessing! All I can say, it is all because of God’s grace working in me. God used many ‘graceful’ people (and some special ones) in my life to plant my feet near the foot of the cross- and carry that cross in happy obedience--to them I’m grateful. I’m not perfect and I have many weaknesses. But I can stand boldly before God, my Creator, because of the righteousness of Christ. He loved and died for me and because He lives, I shall live also. Christ is the reason why we celebrate this season. Christmas is meaningless without Him. Otherwise, it is just ‘partying’ and nothing more. Consider this verse, “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.” (2 Cor.8:9). Yes, this took place when He came here, all because of the richness of His grace. Salvation is free! All by grace and by grace alone. He made the first moved. How about you?
