Going ‘home’ to the loving arms of God.

A preacher who does not preach about sin, has no idea about the seriousness of sin. Or just ignores the importance of God’s holiness. Enoch believed in God’s holiness. This is his “faith.” That is why in verses 15 He preached about the coming judgments especially for those who are described.

He preaches about sin as well: Jude 16-18 “These are grumblers, complainers, walking according to their own lusts; and they mouth great swelling words, flattering people to gain advantage. 17 But you, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ: 18 how they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts.”

Then Jude made this appeal in Jude: 20, 21 says, “building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.”

Jude applies Enoch’s prophecy or sermon about God and sin and judgment from long ago before the flood, to the situation of his own day in the first century. He predicted about the coming apostasy in the church. That day is coming.

Can you feel it today? Christians are lukewarm. Preachers preach “prosperity gospel” and not the true Gospel of Christ. Some churches have a bad name because some preachers dishonour Christ Name. Beware judgment is coming!

That Day of Judgment has not yet come. Enoch believed it will come. Certainly it will come, the Bible declares it! Jude believed it will come. The book of Revelation clearly declares it, it will come.

Enoch’s conviction about God’s holiness, sin, and faith are our examples and should guide the true believers in their Christian life.

However, there is still hope for the backsliders and unbelievers—the only way to go ‘home’ to the loving arms of God is through repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus who died for your sins and rose again for your justification.

Jesus said: “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.”(NIV) Claim these words today. All by grace and by grace alone.
